Temporary changes to Australia Post delivery process
Due to the current pandemic environment, Australia Post has set out temporary guidelines to protect their delivery drivers and we will be supporting the following measures below.
Statement from Australia Post:
Express Post is still available, however “next business day guarantee” is temporarily suspended
Express Post is still available and will continue to be prioritised as the fastest option for customers but may not always meet the next business day delivery standard.
Our Express Post service will continue to be our fastest postal delivery option for our customers – and we'll continue to prioritise these deliveries. They just may not be delivered next business day every time.
This change is due to delays to our delivery services caused by the ongoing impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, including:
- a significant increase in parcels that require manual sorting
- social distancing measures in place at our facilities, which mean we can’t process items as quickly as usual
- a significant reduction in the availability of passenger flights – which, in addition to our dedicated overnight airfreight network, also carry our parcels
The temporary removal of the Express Post guarantee is not intended to impact any rights that customers may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Signature is no longer required
To minimise the risk of contracting or spreading coronavirus, parcels will no longer require a signature for delivery or collection. Someone will need to be present at the residence for this to occur otherwise standard delivery procedures apply.
Whether a driver or postie delivers to the door or a customer goes into their local Post Office to collect a parcel, a staff member will ask and record the customer’s name and acknowledge delivery in our system.
The customer will still need to be present for this to occur, but contact will be minimised by either leaving the parcel at the door until the driver or postie has left the premises or left for the customer to pick up on the counter.
